On May 21, 2016, Sterling Magee and Adam Gussow busked the streets of Gulfport, Florida. It was the first time they'd played the streets as a duo since 1995. The occasion was Sterling's 80th birthday the day before.
Magee and Gussow first met on 125th Street in Harlem, NY, in the fall of 1986, when Magee was 50 and Gussow was 28; their first jam led to many more. In the summer of 1987, they were filmed by a crew following the group U2, a brief performance of "Freedom For My People" that was included in RATTLE AND HUM (1988). Their first album, HARLEM BLUES, was released in 1991. Between 1991 and 1998 they were a national touring act, appearing on the cover of Living Blues in 1996.
A documentary entitled SATAN AND ADAM, which traces their relationship over a 22-year period, will be released in 2018.
