When the 1-800-CONTACTS team began working on the “Never Run out of contacts” campaign they just happen to produce a spot with a man who gets swallowed by a snake. Coincidentally, Anaconda expert Paul Rosolie announced months later he’d allow himself to be consumed by an anaconda on a Discovery Channel special appropriately titled “Eaten Alive”.
There has been a huge controversial media storm around Paul Rosolie. The anticipation and debate of seeing this man get consumed by an anaconda began in November. The 1-800-CONTACTS spot was not going to air until January. Creative agency Pereira & O’Dell and media agency “Media Storm” would have to move fast for what they referred to as a “contextual snakeover”.
